The film puts a spotlight on the late, swashbuckling CNN combat camerawoman, Margaret Moth, who risked it all to put the viewer inside the conflict. When a fateful injury got in the way of her appetite for danger and adrenaline, she had a decision to make about her career and survival.
Pic was produced by Matthew Metcalfe of GFC Films, Tom Blackwell and Lawless, and was written by Metcalfe, Blackwell, Lawless and Whetham Allpress. XYZ Films is executive-producing.
The deals for the film were negotiated by Nate Bolotin and Pip Ngo for XYZ Films on behalf of the filmmakers with Andy Bohn negotiating on behalf of Greenwich and Spencer Pollard (CEO) for Kaleidoscope.
“I was compelled to make this film and to tell the story of a wild-hearted iconoclast who proves that even bad girls can walk on the side of the angels. I am especially delighted that Greenwich and Kaleidoscope have come on board to give Margaret’s story a theatrical release,” said director/writer/producer Lucy Lawless.
The film is the most recent collaboration between XYZ and GFC, having worked together on Ash, directed by Flying Lotus and starring Eiza Gonzalez and Aaron Paul, which just sold to Prime Video International, New Zealand Oscar entry The Dead Lands from Toa Fraser, and Toa’s follow-up feature Six Days starring Jamie Bell, Mark Strong and Abbie Cornish.
