Macon man dead after shooting at Pio Nono gas station Wednesday afternoon, police say

A Macon man died Wednesday afternoon after he was shot at a gas station on Pio Nono Avenue, officials said.

Deputies found Jerry Lewis Burke, 34, shot just after 2 p.m. at the Circle K on Pio Nono Avenue near Glendale Avenue and Interstate 75, according to a statement from the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies tried to help Burke but he died from his gunshot wound at the scene, the statement said. Burke’s next of kin were notified, and no others were injured in the shooting.

It was unclear in the statement what might have led up to the shooting, as the investigation was still underway.
