MAFS star Mel Schilling shares update amid cancer battle

Married at First Sight expert Mel Schilling has shared an update on her cancer diagnosis as she continues going through chemotherapy.

The reality TV star was diagnosed with colon cancer at the end of last year and has been open about her journey, spending the festive period recovering after successful surgery.

Speaking to Magic Radio earlier this week, Mel admitted feeling "a little flat" as she's going through her third cycle of chemo.

"I'm on my third cycle now and I'm just starting to feel a bit sick," she said.

"It sort of feels like being hangover, like I've been drinking all night. That's kind of how I feel."

Mel is working on both MAFS Australia and UK as well as keeping her other work engagements, but said it has been key to have a team to encourage her to say no from time to time.

"I'm just now trying to find the way to kind of juggle everything because I'm not stopping working," she said.

"This thing is not beating me. I'm here to fight, I just need to make some adaptions."

"Time is a big one," she then added, getting candid about how she manages to stay sane amid her diagnosis and her busy schedule.

"Building in space in my schedule, because you can tell I love my work and just kind of doing my passion, so for me it's very tempting to just say yes to everything," she said.

"So surrounding myself with the right team, making sure I've got people there to support me and to actually encourage me to say no if it's something that's not really going to be valuable and meaningful for me.

"And just having that time with my gorgeous family and friends."
