Coco and Ziggy spend some quality time together in their parents' absence, staying up late to watch a horror movie together. They reminisce on the good old times, but are brought back down to earth as they consider how drastically their lives would change if Maggie didn't make it through her cancer battle. The sisters start to get emotional, but luckily have each other for comfort.

After a perfect day together on their impromptu getaway, Maggie is finally inspired to write her goodbye letter to Ben. The following morning, Ben and Maggie return home earlier than expected, wanting to have breakfast with the girls. But as Ziggy unpacks Maggie's bags for her, she stumbles across the letters and freezes in shock. Ben pokes his head in to see what is taking Ziggy so long and she shows him what she has found.

Eventually Coco joins them and then lastly Maggie, who is shocked to see her family holding their letters in bewilderment. The family demands an explanation and Maggie reveals the purpose of the letters, confessing that she wrote them just in case. The whole family is devastated. Ben in particular is outraged that Maggie is starting to give up and is unable to accept her attitude, feeling hurt and betrayed.
