"I tried to figure out what went wrong, but he said it was 'personal' and that I should respect his space," the woman wrote on Reddit
A woman is sharing the sad truth of what caused the downfall of her relationship with the man she thought she was going to marry.
In a Reddit post, the woman who goes by the username @That_Technician_9244 explained how she was dating her boyfriend (she refers to him as John) for four years. She said the couple was pretty serious and planning on getting married and having kids. Then, out of nowhere, her boyfriend dumped her.
"I tried to figure out what went wrong, but he said it was "personal" and that I should respect his space," she wrote in the post.
After the breakup, the woman shared how she leaned on her best friend Stacy and her fiancé Tom for support. She said in the post how they even let her crash at their place. So, when Stacy asked her to be her maid of honor, the woman said she thought it was a no-brainer and said "yes."
But then when her friend's wedding day arrived, the woman recalled how everything went downhill.
"Fast forward to what happened this weekend: the morning of the wedding, Tom asked me to meet him for breakfast super early in the AM before all of the festivities. I thought it was weird but assumed he maybe wanted me to pass something on to Stacy," she wrote.
"What happened instead was that Tom let me know that a few days prior, Stacy admitted to him that she had an affair with John, which was what lead [sic] to my breakup," she continued. "He said that Stacy wanted to come clean to 'start their marriage fresh,' and that he was forgiving her to move forward."
She added: "He had gone back and forth between telling me, and finally decided to spill the beans. I guess he had expected me to forgive Stacy too because the affair was 'so long ago.' "
After finding out about the affair, the woman explained that she got up and walked out on the wedding. She also added in her post how her leaving caused a huge mess because she was the maid of honor and in charge of running the whole show.
"Not only that, but everyone realized that the MOH wasn't there (she had headshots and bios of the party on her wedding page), and news of the affair eventually got out because her cousin knew John," the woman added.
Since that day the woman also shared how Stacy and Tom have been slandering her online saying she ruined their once-in-a-lifetime moment. She added that their friends are also divided on whose side to be on.
She wrote: "I personally don't know what Tom expected, but either way I've been getting bombarded with texts and I heard that Stacy has been so upset she's had to take time off work, which does make me feel like an AH. Especially since I've just been ignoring her calls."

One user shared their thoughts on the woman and Stacy's friendship. They said: "The person you call your best friend went behind your back and betrayed you. The Karma came right back to her like a boomerang."
Another user commented: "What did she expect? For you to stand up there next to her with a smile on your face knowing she's the reason your relationship ended? Tom has some nerve too. He should've known you'd be rightfully upset. Time to hit the block button. These people are not your friends."
