Man, 21, dead following single-vehicle crash near Barrie

A 21-year-old man has died following a single-vehicle crash just south of Barrie earlier this week, Ontario Provincial Police say.

According to Const. Dan Hunter, the crash happened just before 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in the southbound lanes of Highway 400 at the Innisfil ONroute.

Hunter said the driver of a tow truck made a lane change to the ONroute exit and lost control, causing the vehicle to go into a ditch and roll over.

The driver of the vehicle was transported to hospital and died on Wednesday.

Police say he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

A 28-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the vehicle, was wearing her seatbelt and sustained minor injuries.

Police are asking any witnesses to contact officers at 1-888-310-1122.
