Man arrested in armed robberies of banks and businesses in Winnipeg
A 39-year-old man has been charged in connection with a series of armed robberies at banks and businesses in Winnipeg.
Two businesses and five financial institutions were held up by a man who threatened staff with either a gun or knife and tried to conceal his face with a scarf or pulled-down hat, police said.
The robberies happened between Feb. 15, 2016, and June 26, 2017, at the following locations:
- Business in the 2200 block of McPhillips Street on Feb. 15, 2016.
- Business in the 1000 block of McPhillips Street on Feb. 19, 2016.
- Financial institution in the 1800 block of Main Street on March 4, 2016.
- Financial institution in the 1300 block of Ellice Avenue on May 11, 2016.
- Financial institution in the 1500 block of St. Mary's Road on March 9, 2017.
- Financial institution in the 600 block of St. James Street on March 27, 2017.
- Financial institution in the 1500 block of Regent Avenue on June 26, 2017.
Using security video, police were able to link all of the crimes and identify a suspect, who was arrested Monday.
There were no injuries in any of the robberies.
