Man arrested on suspicion of murder after baby found dead in London
A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a baby was found dead in central London.
Police say the "very complex and sensitive case" arose after a mother presented at hospital after giving birth.
Officers were called to Taviton Street on Monday afternoon where, following a search of the premises, the body of a newborn baby was found.
Paramedics also rushed to the scene but were unable to revive the child.
A 26-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder, child neglect and concealment of a birth, police said. He remains in custody at this time.
Detective Chief Inspector Sarb Kaur, leading the investigation, said: "At this early stage, we continue to work alongside the NHS to ensure the mother of the baby receives the necessary care in hospital.
"My detectives are working on a range of enquires and we await the results of forensic examination before we can establish the full facts of the investigation."
