Man Badly Wounded In Drive-By Shooting Outside Drake’s Home In Toronto; Rapper Not Hurt

A man was badly wounded in an overnight drive-by shooting outside hip-hop star Drake’s home in Toronto, police said Tuesday. The Toronto Sun reported that the victim was a 48-year-old security guard who was struck multiple times, including a wound to the upper chest. He was in surgery at Sunnybrook Hospital.

Drake was not injured, his rep said today, and it was unclear whether he was home at the time.

The entrance to the Toronto-native star’s $100 million mansion on Park Lane Circle in the tony Bridle Path community was taped off this morning amid a heavy police presence. Toronto police detailed the incident in an X/Twitter post at 2:10 a.m. ET, saying the “suspect fled in a vehicle.” No arrests have been made.

Photos of the sprawling property often are posted on social media, including by Drake himself. The shooting comes amid a very public feud between Drake and fellow rap star Kendrick Lamar, during which the two have traded insults and diss tracks.

Drake (real name Aubrey Drake Graham) is among the most popular recording acts of the 21st century, amassing 13 No. 1 singles and nine platinum album in the U.S. and dozens of hits around the world.

The incident comes three years after a woman said to be armed armed with a knife was arrested after allegedly assaulting a security guard outside the Toronto mansion.
