Man charged in sexual assault of girl in Pembroke, Ont.

A 24-year-old man is facing charges of assault and sexual assault of a minor following an investigation in Pembroke, Ont., last month, police say.

On Nov. 19, Ontario Provincial Police responded to a call about a sexual assault, the force wrote in a news release. The investigation revealed that there were two victims, both girls under the age of 18.

A man from Selwyn Township north of Peterborough, Ont., was released from custody on a promise to appear in court in Pembroke on Jan. 10.

He cannot be named in order to protect the identities of the girls.
