Man, 61, charged with 1st-degree murder after woman stabbed to death in Mississauga
A 61-year-old man has been charged with first-degree murder after a 61-year-old woman was stabbed to death in a Mississauga home early Saturday, according to police.
Peel police Const. Rachel Gibbs said officers were called to the residence, on Marmac Crescent near Winston Churchill Boulevard and The Collegeway, at about 1 a.m. for reports of a domestic disturbance. They found the victim with obvious signs of trauma.
Two teens were also in the home at the time of the fatal stabbing. One was taken to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, while the other was transported for treatment but did not suffer any injuries.
No other information about the victims or the accused has been released by police.
The man was arrested inside the house after some sort of interaction with police. The province's police watchdog said Saturday that it is investigating the circumstances of the arrest because the man was seriously injured in the process.
Two investigators and one forensic investigator have been assigned to the probe, a spokesperson for the Special Investigations Unit told CBC Toronto.
The unit is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.
