Man, 62, dead after being hit by alleged impaired driver in Etobicoke

A 62-year-old man is dead after being hit by an alleged impaired driver in Etobicoke on Saturday morning, Toronto police say.

The collision happened on Kipling Avenue, just north of Stevenson Road at around 6:15 a.m.

Police said the man was crossing Kipling Avenue from the west side to the east, when a silver 2005 Nissan Altima heading southbound struck the pedestrian.

Toronto paramedics transported the man to a trauma centre via emergency run with life threatening injuries. He later died in hospital.

The 24-year-old driver from Toronto has been arrested and has been charged with impaired driving causing death and driving while having a blood alcohol level over 80 milligrams.
