Man falls out of car during crash, is struck by several vehicles on I-20 in Arlington

A man was killed early Wednesday after he fell out of a car and was struck by multiple vehicles on Interstate 20 in Arlington, police said.

Officers responded to the eastbound lanes of I-20 near East Loop 820 around 12:40 a.m. after receiving several calls from drivers who reported possibly hitting a person. Officers found the remains of a man lying on the road, according to police.

Investigators believe a 2008 Buick Lucerne traveling east on I-20 swerved and hit a road construction barrier, police said. The impact caused the driver to lose control and spin across the highway. The Lucerne’s front passenger door flew open and the victim fell onto the road.

The Lucerne then plowed into a concrete barrier on the right side of the highway. The driver was injured and taken to a local hospital, police said. He is expected to survive.

The Lucerne’s passenger was hit by several vehicles while he was lying on the road. The drivers who hit him aren’t facing criminal charges, according to police.

The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will identify the man who died. The investigation into the crash is ongoing, police said.
