Man rescued after falling down hole near cliff
A man had to be rescued after falling about 15 feet (4.6 metres) down a hole and becoming trapped amongst undergrowth on a cliff in Falmouth.
Falmouth Coastguard Rescue Team said the casualty had been walking down a small path when it collapsed beneath him on Monday.
The team said the man was stuck between Maenporth and Swanpool and suffered "some bumps and scrapes but was uninjured aside from that".
The man was able to call 999 and speak to coastguards for help via his own mobile phone, despite there being poor signal in the area.
On Facebook, Falmouth coastguards said a search team was deployed to locate the casualty before the rest of the team took rescue equipment to the scene "some 300 meters over extremely tricky ground".
It said: "Rope rescue equipment was set up in an extremely confined work area and a specialist rope rescue technician was deployed through some very thick undergrowth and was able to secure the casualty in our rescue sling, and both were recovered by the rest of the team to the cliff top.
"Porthleven Coastguard Team Mullion Coastguard Rescue Team Full time Coastguard Senior Coastal Operations Officer S11B and Coastguard Rescue Helicopter R187 were all tasked to assist."
Coastguards also said on Saturday, crews attended three separate incidents including a collapsed person at Arthurs Beach, a person in the water at Falmouth Harbour and another person in the water.
On Sunday, it was reported a person and dog were in "difficulty" at Admirals Quay, but nothing was found following a search.
