The company has cancelled its daytime crossing leaving Yarmouth and the trip scheduled to return from Portland this evening.

Nova Star says it hopes service can resume Sunday.

Northumberland Ferries has also suspended crossings between Caribou, N.S. and Wood Islands, P.E.I. until further notice.

There are also traffic restrictions in effect on the Confederation Bridge.

There's a strong wind warning in effect for the southwestern shore and the Bay of Fundy. Environment Canada is calling for winds between 37 and 61 km/h.
