Mariska Hargitay Says She Experienced 'Sheer Magic' on Her 60th Birthday: 'This Really Takes the Cake'
"I'm still recovering from all the love bombing," the 'Law & Order: Special Victims Unit' actress wrote on Instagram
Mariska Hargitay feels the love after celebrating a milestone birthday.
The Law & Order: Special Victims Unit star turned 60 on Tuesday and reposted tributes from her famous friends, including Kathryn Gallagher, Camryn Manheim, Brooke Shields, Christian Siriano, Lindsey Vonn, Ali Wentworth and Delaney Williams, on her Instagram Story.
On Wednesday, however, Hargitay posted a shot with a cake expressing her gratitude for her birthday wishes.
“No words to express the sheer magic ✨and the outpouring of love over these last few days,” the actress wrote on Instagram. “So deeply grateful for everyone in my life #KindAndGenerous #ThisReallyTakesTheCake”
Jamie Lee Curtis commented, “I want a piece.”
Hargitay shared a similar shot on Tuesday with a message thanking her followers and friends for “making my birthday wishes come true!”
“#FeelngTheLove and is that the prettiest cake or what?💕💕💕,” the mom of three captioned the picture. “#BestDayEver I’m still recovering from all the love bombing💕💕💕💕💕.”
Eva Mendes wished Hargitay a “feliz cumpleaños” in the comments section and wrote that she hoped to meet the Emmy winner one day. “I’ve always loved you,” Mendes, 49, wrote. “Hoping you’re day was all you wanted it to be.”
Courteney Cox, Garret Dillahunt, Debra Messing, Tatum O’Neal and Holly Robinson Peete also commented with birthday wishes.
“What a light you are gorgeous girl,” Cox, 59, wrote.
The Mindy Project alum Dillahunt, also 59, felt grateful to have celebrated with Hargitay.
“Such a beautiful party,” he wrote. “So honored to have been there. And you have the same birthday as my father!”
Hargitay captioned another Instagram picture on Tuesday that her “day was filled with crazy love.”
Earlier this month, Hargitay told PEOPLE she felt “so excited” about turning 60.
“I’m proud of it,” she said. “I’m stronger than I’ve ever been.”

The milestone comes as Law and Order: SVU turns 25.
“I didn’t get cast [on SVU] until I was 35 and then the show kept going as I aged,” Hargitay said. “At 45, we’d been on for ten years and I just met my husband [Peter Hermann]. The man of my dreams. I got married at 40. I had August [her eldest son] at 42. So it was like defying all the odds."
So when it came to turning 60, she added, “The age thing was never something I was scared of.”
