McDonald’s Changes Colour In China With New Grey Burger Bun

It’s usually a sign of getting old, but McDonald’s has gone grey with its new burger.

In China, the fast food giant has replaced the sesame seeded bun on its pork burger with something a little less colourful.

The result is a grey bun that has been the talk of foodies on social media.

The grey bun is a “mantou”, a steamed flour bun found in Chinese cuisine.

The small dark speckles in the grey bun come from black sesame.

The grey bun was launched less than a month ago and will be available until November 3. So far it has divided foodies, with some proclaiming it the best thing since non-grey sliced bread, while others have accused it of being the “colour of despair”.

The burger itself is made up of two pork patties, salad, bacon and Sichuan pepper ketchup.

Earlier this year, Burger King launched an all-black Halloween burger, which reportedly turned some diners’ poo green.
