Meghan Markle’s latest fashion statement might have a sweet connection to her son Prince Archie.

On Tuesday, the Duchess of Sussex, 42, sparkled on stage at "The Archewell Foundation Parents’ Summit: Mental Wellness in the Digital Age" in New York City in an emerald necklace. Meghan accessorized with Logan Hollowell's gold Queen Emerald Cut Emerald Cuban Choker with Sarah Hendler’s Pave Spear Tip Dangle Studs, plus a diamond pinky ring and her wedding band. Meghan wore an Altuzarra off-the-shoulder ivory blazer, matching pant and Purist Pump 105 heels.

While the earrings appeared to feature London Blue Topaz gemstones, the necklace might have been a subtle tribute to her 4-year-old son. Emeralds are the birthstone for Prince Archie’s May birth month, and the Duchess of Sussex has sported the gem before. In October 2022, the Archetypes host wore an emerald pendant from Logan Hollowell while shopping in Montecito.

The brand is also behind the constellation necklaces she wore to announce 40x40, a global effort encouraging people to give 40 minutes to support women re-entering the workforce, in a video with Melissa McCarthy timed to her 40th birthday in 2021. The Duchess of Sussex kept her kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, 2, close to heart by layering a gold Taurus constellation necklace for her son’s zodiac sign with a coordinating Gemini piece for her daughter, who was born in June.

While she was pregnant with Archie, Meghan might have hinted at her due date by wearing a delicate emerald ring by Canadian brand Eckstand at the 2018 Invictus Games in Sydney. Beyond its affiliation with May birthdays, the precious green gemstone is linked to healing and foresight, according to the International Gem Society.

The Duchess of Sussex opened up about raising kids in today’s digital age during the third and final panel of The Archewell Foundation Parents’ Summit: Mental Wellness in the Digital Age on Tuesday. The summit was Meghan and Harry’s second stop of their trip to New York City for World Mental Health Day, following a morning visit to The Marcy Lab School in Brooklyn, and doubled as the first in-person event from their Archewell Foundation.

The summit took place as part of Project Healthy Minds’ second annual World Mental Health Day Festival, and featured parents who have experienced tragic loss connected to their child’s social media use. Meghan and Harry have been working with the parents involved in the event behind the scenes, PEOPLE has learned.

“I can’t start without thanking all the parents, the mothers and fathers for being with us physically today, but also being on this journey with us for the last year, creating this community of shared experience. We know it’s not easy for you guys to be here so thank you very much.” Prince Harry, 39, said after taking the stage with Meghan for their panel with the U.S. Surgeon General Dr. Vivek Murthy, in a conversation moderated by Carson Daly, Board Member of Project Health Minds.

Meghan said, "A year ago we met some of the families, and at the time, it was impossible not to be in tears hearing their stories because it's just that devastating.

"As parents, though our kids [Archie and Lili] are really young, 2 1/2 and 4 1/2, but social media isn't going away and by design, there was an entry post that was supposed to be positive and create community but something has devolved and there's no way to hear that and not try to help these families have their stories be heard."

'The Archewell Foundation Parents’ Summit: Mental Wellness in a Digital Age' gave a voice to families who are passionate about building a safer online world for children and teens, PEOPLE exclusively revealed last week.

Meghan and Harry spoke about the urgency of changing social media to make the online world a better place, and received a standing ovation when their panel came to a close. They shared hugs with Daly and the Surgeon General before quietly exiting the stage.

Uplifting communities, building a better online world and restoring trust in information are the key pillars of the Archewell Foundation, which the Duke and Duchess of Sussex launched in 2020. The Archewell Foundation operates with the core belief that mental health and collective wellbeing is paramount and approaches all philanthropic work through this lens.

Earlier in the day, Meghan and Harry visited a Brooklyn-based school that prepares young adults from underestimated backgrounds for careers in the tech field. The outing highlighted the couple’s ongoing work to help create a safer online world.
