Mel B Says Her Kids Mistook Her Spice Girls Music for Lady Gaga: 'Who Do You Think This Is?'
The singer is mom to three daughters — Phoenix, Angel and Madison
Melanie "Mel B" Brown may be one of the most iconic pop stars of the 20th century, but her kids don't seem to know it.
While appearing on Thursday's episode of The Jennifer Hudson Show, the Spice Girl singer, 48, talked with host Jennifer Hudson, 42, about receiving an honor from the Queen, which led Hudson to ask if Mel B's kids think she is cool.
"No. I mean, I've got a 12-year-old, a 16-year-old and a 24-year-old," Mel B says. "I mean my 24-year-old thinks I'm kind of cool now because all my clothes have come back 'round in fashion."

"So my oldest daughter, she goes into my wardrobes and I see her stealing things. But I'm, oh well. It's fine," she says.
"So do they know their mom is a Spice Girl?" Hudson asks.
"I don't think they care that I'm a Spice Girl," Mel B responds, laughing. "I mean I was playing my music the other day before we went to see Hamilton, and I was like, 'Hey kids, who do you think this is?' And they were like, 'I don't know, is it Lady Gaga?' I was like, 'No.'"
"'What kind of music is this Mommy?' I was like, 'It's Spice Girls music that we wrote.' They were like, 'Really?'" she remembers.
"But I think with their friends, I'm kind of cool," Mel B says.
The singer is mom to daughters Phoenix, 24, Angel, 16, and Madison, 12.
In December 2022, the singer's eldest child Phoenix posted a photoshoot of herself on Instagram replicating three of her mom's iconic looks as Scary Spice from her Spice Girls days.
For one of her outfits, Phoenix looked to the group's 1996 "Say You'll Be There" music video. Wearing a leopard-print bustier top, black mini skirt, combat boots and silver jewelry, she struck a few powerful poses in a desert-like setting.
Her second look, inspired by the pop stars' 1997 "Spice Up Your Life" cover art, was more colorful with baggy patchwork pants and a matching bra top.
Last stop on Phoenix's tour of her mom's closet was a metallic gold two-piece set, matching arm cuffs and space buns, drawn from the Spice World movie poster from 1997.
