Melissa McCarthy Carries Massive Cannoli Clutch for 2024 Oscars Party in the Sweetest Style Move of the Night
McCarthy's kitschy crystal clutch was the best red carpet plus-one of the evening
Melissa McCarthy had quite possibly the sweetest accessory at the 2024 Vanity Fair Oscar Party.
The actress, who made a quick outfit change after the 2024 Academy Awards, walked the red carpet at Vanity Fair's party in a black long-sleeve Valdrin Sahiti gown with a lion-head doorknocker accent. But the pièce de résistance of her look was her majestic crystal-covered Kinza Winza purse in the shape of a cannoli. The whole moment was giving mob wife cosplay.
McCarthy, 53, wielded her clutch, which was custom bedazzled by Sophie Anzaldo, proudly on the red carpet, showing it off to every photographer who looked her way. The bag was true to form (though not true to size) with a golden shell-like casing and silver crystals to mimic the cream filling. Darker crystals looked like chocolate chips to dot the ends.
"We decided to lean into the mob wife theme for Vanity Fair, and the cannoli felt on brand!" McCarthy's stylist Katja Cahill tells PEOPLE of the custom design.
Earlier in the night, McCarthy walked the Oscars red carpet in a formfitting red gown with pink balloon sleeves and a dramatic pink train. She paired the look with red heels and plenty of jewels and later took the stage as a presenter alongside Octavia Spencer.

There were so many incredible (and incredibly quirky) accessories on the Oscars red carpet on Sunday night. American Fiction composer Laura Karpman also carried a showstopping bag to complement her look. Hers was a sequin-covered purple bag with the Cadbury logo. She didn't stop there, though. She also filled her bag with chocolates that she chucked at people on the red carpet, dubbing her day the "sweetest day."
The team behind Godzilla Minus One stayed in character while hitting the red carpet on Sunday when they brought along figures of the famous monster and showed off black shoes featuring heels in the shape of giant lizard claws. They also took their dedication to their craft and their project on stage when they accepted their award for Best Visual Effects.
