This video shows the water reaching a row of cottages on Sanibel Captiva Road.

Meteorologists said the waves were a meteotsunami, local news site mysuncoast.com reported. The weather phenomenon, which generates waves that move towards the shore, is driven by air-pressure disturbances, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
