Metro-east softball roundup: Belleville East tops O’Fallon; Freeburg downs West

The metro-east softball season continued with several games Thursday.

Here is a quick view of some of the outcomes.

Edwardsville 5, Alton 0

The Tigers coasted to a 5-run win over the Redbirds.

Edwardsville improved to 22-4 and 9-0 in the SWC, while Alton fell to 10-12, 4-6.

Avery Hamiliton led the Tigers with a HR and 3 RBI. Alton was led by multiple players with at least 1 hit.

Hamiltion also pitched a complete game, posting 11 strikeouts.

Pinckneyville 7, Mater Dei 6

The Panthers edged the Knights in a 1-run victory.

Mater Dei, coming off a 12-0 win against Gibault, fell to 18-3.

Freeburg 11, Belleville West 1

The Midgets blew past the Maroons in a 10-run win.

Freeburg improved to 26-1 while Belleville West fell to 11-14.

Olivia Joseph led Freeburg with 1 hit and 3 RBI. Multiple Maroons led the way with at least 1 hit.

Mylie LaFore won the game, allowing just 4 hits.

Breese Central 4, Wood River 0

The Cougars blew past the Oilers in a 4-run win.

Breese Central improved to 10-12 overall and 4-6 in the Cahokia Conference (Mississippi Division) while Wood River fell to 6-17, 0-10.

Alyse Monken had 1 hit and 1 RBI to lead the Cougars. Jordan Ealey paced the Oilers with 1 hit.

Monken also won the game, allowing just 2 hits.

Karlie Dant and Madalyn Trauernicht led Highland with a HR each. Lilly Heck paced Waterloo with 2 hits and 2 RBI.

Sophia Donoho won the game while racking up 7 strikeouts.
