Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones Celebrate Daughter Carys’ 21st Birthday

On April 20, the couple’s daughter, Carys, turned 21, and the proud parents wasted no time before sharing some sweet messages for her.
Douglas, 79, shared a photo of himself and Carys at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, where she supported him as he was honored with the Palme d'Or award, on Instagram.

In the sweet father-daughter shot, the actor looks on as Carys poses on the red carpet, showing off her gown.
“Happy 21 my darling Carys!” he wrote in the caption of the post. “You bring me and the world such happiness @carys.douglas ❤️ Dad.”
“I love you so much Dadda!” Carys replied in the comments, adding, “Thank you for your being the best dad in the world ❤️.”
Zeta-Jones, 54, also dedicated a sweet tribute to the 21-year-old, sharing an Instagram post consisting of three black-and-white shots, starting from when Carys was an infant and ending with a more recent picture.
“Happy Birthday to my beautiful daughter @carys.douglas,” the actress wrote alongside the photos. “You are the joy of my life. 21 years of watching you blossom in to the most incredible woman you are today is a God given gift that I never take for granted and cherish every day of my life.”
“Thank you for being you,” she added. “I love you with all my heart ♥️ Mama.”
In the comments, Carys once again reciprocated her parents’ love, writing, “I love you Mama ❤️thank you for everything — I am so proud to be your daughter.”
Carys’s older brother and “built-in best friend” Dylan also got in on the birthday action.
The 23-year-old shared an Instagram post full of throwbacks and recent snaps of the siblings, along with a sweet message.
“Happy Birthday Carys ! For the many victories & defeats life will deal you, I’ll always be by your side,” he wrote. “I love you.”

In addition to Dylan and Carys, Douglas shares son Cameron, 45, with his ex-wife Diandra Luker. The actor split from Luker in 1995 and the pair finalized their divorce in 2000, the same year he tied the knot with Zeta-Jones.
Opening up about his transition from actor to father, Douglas told AARP The Magazine in 2010, “My career was the most important thing in my life, followed by marriage and children. And it's completely reversed now.”
"I never anticipated starting a family and the joy of raising kids at my age,” he added.
