Middle GA’s top football stars commit to colleges on Early Signing Day. Here’s where
With the high school football season finished, star players from around Macon and surrounding counties began choosing where they’ll play college football last Wednesday for Early Signing Day.
Nearly every big high school from Middle Georgia had a few players commit, with some choosing local schools. Here’s a look at the best recruits from the region and where they’ll play college ball:
Top 300 prospects
Middle Georgia had two players featured in the ESPN Top 300 recruits list, both hailing from Warner Robins.
Warner Robins High School’s star Isaiah Canion hit the list at No. 191, the highest-rated recruit from the region. Listed as an athlete, Canion played wide receiver for most of his time with the Demons but also had some games at quarterback.
He signed with Georgia Tech, one of just three prospects with a four-star rating for the Yellow Jackets.
Just below Canion at No. 192 was Ricardo Jones, a safety who spent time at Northside High School before finishing at Peach County. Jones officially signed with Clemson.
Other notable players
Several other Middle Georgia players ranked on 247Sports’ list of top recruits in the state officially signed with some bigger colleges.
One of the most-notable athletes in the area to sign was Mary Persons running back Duke Watson, who signed with Louisville to make his commitment to the ACC squad official.
Zion Ragins, a big-time wide receiver from Jones County officially signed with Oklahoma, while star Perry receiver Dakarai Anderson signed with Cincinnati.
Other big stars making it official included Warner Robins quarterback Judd Anderson signing with Miami, Houston County receiver Ricky Williams signing with Mississippi State, and Baldwin running back Micah Welch signing with Colorado.
