Middle Georgia man hit and killed by multiple vehicles while walking on Hawkinsville Road
A Middle Georgia man who was walking along a highway in south Bibb County after he ran out of gas was hit by multiple vehicles and killed around 6 a.m. Sunday.
Christopher Antwan Williams Jr., 23, ran out of gas on Hawkinsville Road near McMillian Drive before sunrise and was walking to a gas station near the Allen Road intersection when he was struck by three cars and an 18-wheeler, according to Bibb coroner Leon Jones.
Jones said only one of the vehicles stopped, adding that Williams’ family came to the scene and identified him.
Pedestrian fatalities in Macon, particularly on state roads and national highways, are not uncommon. Two weekends ago, Waford Dan Bolen, 37, was hit and killed on Interstate 475 on a late Saturday evening.
The traffic collision is still under investigation. Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.
