Midwest Salute to the Arts celebrates 35th year at annual festival. Here’s the schedule
If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, consider checking out Midwest Salute to the Arts, which hits Fairview Heights this weekend.
This weekend marks the 35th year for the fine art festival, which takes place at Moody Park on Longacre Drive and offers plenty of great works by artists from all over the country.
There will be activities and entertainment too.

Art & Craft Demonstrations
See how art is made at demonstrations all day Saturday and Sunday.
Artists from the Artisan Guild of Southern Illinois, the Gateway East Artists Guild, and the Midwest Woodcarvers will answer questions and show guests how they create their awesome works.
Included specialties include wood carving, pottery, illustrations, jewelry, felting, paper making, weaving and more.

The Children’s Creation Station will also be available for the kiddos from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

The Children’s Gallery will offer kids-only shopping. Littles can buy art without parents influencing their selections.
This gallery was designed to “foster an interest in art at an early age,” according to the Midwest Salute to the Arts website.
Kids ages 5-13 enter the gallery and select a piece of their choosing. They are then encouraged to meet the artist that created the selected piece and learn how it was made.
The cost to enter the gallery is $10. The gallery will be open until all art has been disbursed.

Midwest Salute the Arts takes place at Moody Park in Fairview Heights 6-10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 10 a.m to 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 27.
