Millie Bobby Brown says it’s never too early to start celebrating the holidays — even if her fiancé Jake Bongiovi disagrees.

“My decorations go up before Halloween. Jake's very much against that, but who cares?” the Stranger Things star, 19, exclusively tells PEOPLE during a pop-up event for her new coffee line, Florence by Mills Coffee.

Brown adds that she’s also shared some of her own holiday traditions with Bongiovi — to whom she announced her engagement in April — including when they get to open their first Christmas present.

“My tradition is, you have to open a gift, big or small, on Christmas Eve,” she explains. “Jake didn't do that. I introduced it to him and he kind of is still not on board with it, but I'm like, ‘You have to open it.’ And then he picks the biggest one and I'm like, of course you did.”

She continues, “Christmas is my holiday. It's just where I thrive. I love the twinkly lights and the ornaments.”

The Enola Holmes actress also shared that getting to spend time with those she's closest to is another reason the holidays are the most wonderful time of the year for her.

“The holidays is about seeing family and spending time with your loved ones and being able to truly reflect and understand how grateful we are to live in a house that's put together. I just feel very, very grateful and lucky to be able to be under a roof with my family,” she says.

Last year, the star shared a sweet behind-the-scenes look at her Christmas tree decorations — and how Bongiovi helped ready her home for the holidays.

In a video set to Mariah Carey's "All I Want For Christmas Is You," Brown is seen hanging ornaments on the tree and the pair are both decked out in cozy pajamas as they share a hug and kiss.

Brown and Bongiovi spent their first Thanksgiving together as an engaged couple in November, and the actress described it as an “all-American dream.” She celebrated with her fiancé’s family, including his parents Jon Bon Jovi and Dorothea Hurley.

“Obviously I'm British, so I don't celebrate Thanksgiving, but of course Jake's family are American, so they were able to introduce me to what a real American Thanksgiving looked like,” she tells PEOPLE. “Jake's mom's cooking was amazing, so I really got introduced to a really great Thanksgiving [with a] wonderful family.”
