Minnie Driver Shares Throwback of First Date with Addison O’Dea: ‘You Made Me Laugh So Much I Split a Seam’
The 'Circle of Friends' star reflected on the early days of her relationship with Addison O'Dea
Minnie Driver is showing her appreciation for Addison O'Dea on their anniversary.
To mark the couple's special day, the actress shared an image of herself and the filmmaker at the 2019 Chanel pre-Oscars award dinner which she calls their first "first formal date" accompanied by another image of the couple years earlier.
"It’s our anniversary today," Driver wrote as the post's caption. "Five years filled with laughter, grief, creativity and becoming our little tribe of 4 (counting Bob)."
She continued the caption by adding "Here we are on our first formal date, which was a v.glam affair, and you made me laugh so much I spilt [sic] a seam in this beautiful dress. Slide 2 is how we really are: happy, eating, by the sea. Love you @addisonodea."
Driver also hashtagged "#anniversary" while noting that her "glorious gown" was created by Carolina Herrera creative director Wes Gordon.
Throughout 2019, Driver shared snaps of her and O'Dea together, such as on a group trip in Cornwall in July of that year, but it wasn't until the Emmys that they made their relationship more official.

In 2022, Driver went on The Kelly Clarkson Show where she told Clarkson that she and O'Dea first met at a friend's breakfast and later went on a "sea-based incursion" where they became "shipwrecked." While waiting for the coast guard Driver says she "asked him every question about why men are unfaithful, why men do the things that they do."
The actress went on to explain that she told O'Dea "I'm ruined, I'm never gonna have another boyfriend," to which he replied, "Well, I don't want a girlfriend, and definitely not you."

She added, "Of course, we became friends. And of course, we fell in love. And of course, we've been together ever since."
Driver and O'Dea first publicly revealed their relationship when they stepped out together for the Amazon Emmy Awards after party at Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles on Sept. 18, 2019.
The actress then posted an image of her and O'Dea together at the event on Instagram, writing "Special guest appearance by @tracelysette ‘s incredible derrière top right."
Driver has been previously linked to other famous faces such as Harrison Ford and Matt Damon.
In 2022, she opened up about her relationship with Damon, whom she dated from 1997 to 1998, in her memoir Managing Expectations: A Memoir in Essays: "My family loved Matt — it wasn't that. It was that they could see that this young man was rocketing really fast and so was I, and when you're young, it's pretty hard to keep your head on straight and to maintain a grounded sense of deportment."
Driver added at the time, "They were like, 'This may well end badly for reasons that are to do with all these things coming together in a perfect storm.' while also noting "you shouldn't date someone you work with."
