UPDATE: Missing Brantford woman, 44, found

After going missing for nearly a week, Brantford woman Eugenia (Jenny) Da Silva has been located, and is safe with family.

A release from Brantford Police Service on Wednesday night said they do not believe there was “foul play” or have a concern for public safety related to the incident.

“Out of respect for the privacy of the family, no further details will be released,” the release went on to say.

It had been nearly a week since Da Silva, 44, was last seen or heard from.

She left her work at the Brock & Visser Funeral Home in Woodstock on Friday at 5 p.m., the “normal time,” her cousin Carla Cassone told The Spectator in a call.

She was headed home to Brantford, approximately 45 kilometres away, but never made it.

Cassone said it’s “out of character” for her cousin.

“She obsessively loves her daughters,” and to be texting with them and all of a sudden not have contact “doesn’t make sense,” Cassone said.

Da Silva’s disappearance has sparked the concern of many locals — Facebook posts about her have been shared over 12,000 times, and the Facebook group started Tuesday night to organize canvassing efforts amassed over 5,000 members in just under 24 hours.

Cassone said it’s “a testament to the communities we live in,” and the family is “overwhelmed” with the outpouring of support from the public.
