Missouri Tigers announce date, time for Mizzou Madness basketball tipoff event
Mizzou Madness is back and, by the time you’re reading this, less than a month away.
On Oct. 6, the Missouri Tigers will hold their season-tipoff event for the men’s and women’s basketball programs. For the second straight year, Mizzou Madness will take place on the David R. Francis Quadrangle, the historical center of the campus, in front of the Columns and Jesse Hall.
Mizzou Madness will get underway at 9 p.m. on that Friday. According to an MU Athletics release, both the “men’s and women’s basketball teams will be introduced and participate in interactive games with members of the audience.” There will also be a “live DJ, interactive games, food vendors and a laser show.”
Mizzou Madness is a free event. The Tigers’ football team will play host to LSU a day later on Saturday, Oct. 7.
Last year’s Missouri men’s basketball team reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament under first-year coach Dennis Gates. Gates guided the Tigers to a No. 7 seed and first-round win over No. 10-seeded Utah State.
The men’s basketball Tigers finished the season at 25-10 and 11-7 in SEC play. They are set to open their season on Monday, Nov. 6, against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
The Mizzou women’s basketball team went 18-14 (6-10 SEC), falling to eventual WNIT champion Kansas in the second round of the postseason event. The Tigers will open their 2023 season on Monday, Nov. 6, against Belmont in Columbia.
