Modesto’s latest Legends of the Cruise get their stars. What’s next in Graffiti Summer?
As Modesto’s Graffiti Summer celebration gets underway, the latest inductees to the downtown Legends of the Cruise walk of fame were honored Wednesday evening.
Getting their stars on Tenth Street Plaza were Raymond Lee, Vito Masellis, Larry Pippin, Pete “Kiki” Rodriguez, Don Wenstrand, Larry Wing and The REGS fraternity.
Festivities continue Friday evening with the American Graffiti Cruise Parade. The route will be split between 10th and 11th streets, with cruising vehicles traveling along each route. Cruisers will reconvene on I Street as the parade heads east.
Parking along streets and in public garages will be shut down from 3 to 10 p.m. The parade will run from 6 to 8 p.m.
Street closures for the parade are as follows:
▪ Entry into downtown from the Five Points intersection
▪ G through L streets from Ninth to 17th Streets
▪ Needham Street from Five Points to 14th Street
Saturday and Sunday, the Modesto Junior College West Campus will be the place to be, for the North Modesto Kiwanis Club’s American Graffiti Festival & Car Show.
The event includes music, a variety of food and other vendors and, of course, hundreds of classic cars on display. The region’s Latin car clubs will be honored Sunday, 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Live entertainment includes Cisco Kid, a War tribute band, Sunday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Festival hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
Admission is $10, free to children 12 and under. MJC West is at 2201 Blue Gum Ave.
