Mom shares hilarious story of how she snagged the ‘hot dad’ at her kid’s school
If you’re single right now (and trying to mingle), you know how tough it is out there — and exponentially moreso for single parents. So what’s a lonely mom (or dad) to do when they have a crush? Well, one TikTok mom is going viral for sharing the hilarious story of how she landed the “hot dad” at her kids’ school, and if you’re looking for love, you may just want to take notes.
Dorilee Lavin calls it an act of manifestation, and while that’s a nice word for something a little bit unhinged, we can’t knock it when it works. It all started when she spotted Sean, her eventual husband-to-be, across the field at one of her kids’ school sporting events.
“I hung out every single day at my kids’ school, hoping to see this hot dad that I believed to be single after I did a lot of scouting,” she said. “I never got a chance to connect with him, but the school was like, tired of hearing me talk about him to them, so it was the last day of school before summer break, and they were like, ‘Hey, Dorilee, we’re going to give him your phone number.'”
Lavin went on to explain that she actually bumped into Sean on her way out of the school that day and finally got her chance to talk to him.
“I was like, ‘Oh, hi, total verbal diarrhea,'” she said. “No pick-up lines, no nothing. I actually thought I scared him. But he went inside and they gave him my phone number and then he texted me.”
Once they started chatting, Lavin and Sean discovered they were both single, and he asked her out on a date for the following weekend. Then, she moves her hand into the camera’s frame to show off her gigantic wedding ring as she reveals, “111 days later, we got married.”
While Lavin obviously did manifest this relationship, the real heroes are the school workers who got so sick of hearing about her crush that they decided to play matchmaker. And what if, unbeknownst to Lavin (and all of us), they were also hearing Sean talk about his crush on Lavin? That would be the twist ending to this story we all deserve.
