More thunderstorms, 90-degree temps coming to Northern California. Here’s the latest forecast

The gray skies and rain showers might not show it, but the Sacramento area will be seeing hot temperatures this week.

It’s expected Sacramento to hit nearly 90 degrees for most of the week, according to the National Weather Service. All the while, thunderstorms, hail, wind and lightning are also in the forecast for Northern California.

Heavy rain is possible Monday to Wednesday in the afternoon to 9 p.m. for parts of the region, including Redding and Chico, the service stated in a notice. It is warning people to stay inside if there is thunder or lightning.

Placerville could see rain and lightning Monday as well. Folsom, Roseville and Sacramento are in the clear, according to their forecasts, while Auburn could see some showers in the evening.

The area has been seeing oscillating weather, with thunderstorms predicted alongside 100-degree heat since last week and El Dorado County getting hail on Sunday.

Over the last 24 hours, about a quarter of an inch to three-quarters of inch of rain was recorded over the mountains, mainly over the southern Cascades and the Sierra, meteorologist Idamis Del Valle-Shoemaker said. There wasn’t any measurable rainfall in the city.

From June 5 to Monday morning, about a quarter of an inch to an inch to a half of rain fell over the mountains.
