Mother, 2 children homeless after Draper Avenue fire

A mother and two children are homeless after a fire at a rowhouse complex in the west Ottawa neighbourhood.

Ottawa fire officials says there were multiple 911 calls reporting smoke and flames shooting from 2724 Draper Ave. at about 2:15 p.m. Sunday.

Everyone living inside the rowhouse unit was able to escape, but the fire caused about $50,000 damage.

The cause has not yet been determined, but the three occupants had to find another place to stay.

This was the fifth fire in Ottawa this weekend, including four at people's homes.
