Netflix Canada removing Macaulay Culkin movie, Brendan Fraser's 'The Mummy' and 'Cats' in April
Richie Rich, The Mummy, Cats, Back to the Future, Judas and the Black Messiah, and movies from George Clooney's Ocrean's franchise are leaving Netflix
From infamous child star Macaulay Culkin, to iconic performances by Oscar winners Brendan Fraser and Daniel Kaluuya, and legends like George Clooney and Julia Roberts, a lot of movies with some of our favourite celebrities will be removed from Netflix Canada in April.
While Fraser may have just won an Academy Award for The Whale, one of his more iconic films, The Mummy, in which he starred alongside Rachel Weisz, is being removed from the streaming platform on April 1.
Another film that resulted in Oscar wins, Judas and the Black Messiah, will also be leaving Netflix Canada on the first of the month. Kaluuya won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor, playing Fred Hampton.
While some movies are iconic for their award wins and critical acclaim, others are memorable for the opposite reasons. That's what happened for the film Cats, which puzzled many with its odd and often unsettling CGI, starring Judi Dench, Idris Elba, Taylor Swift, Rebel Wilson and James Corden, among other particularly high-profile celebrities. If you still haven't seen the chaos, you only have a few days left to do so on Netflix before it's removed on April 1.
In the world of musicals, 2012s Les Misérables, with Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Eddie Redmayne and Amanda Seyfried, will be leaving Netflix Canada on April 15.
If you're looking for a little fun and nostalgia, Canadians are losing a couple great choices in April. Robert Zemeckis' Back to the Future, starring Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly, and Christopher Lloyd as Dr. Emmett Brown, will sadly be leaving Netflix April 1.
Additionally, Culkin's 1994 movie Richie Rich is being removed from Netflix Canada on April 17, which also stars the late Edward Herrmann and Christine Ebersole. The film is about the richest kid in the world who wants to have a "normal" childhood, but is faced with John Larroquette's character, Laurence Van Dough, trying to take the family fortune.
Fans of George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon's Ocean's franchise are also taking a big hit in April. Netflix Canada is removing Ocean's Eleven, Ocean's Twelve and Ocean's Thirteen from the streaming site at the end of April. The first two also star Julia Roberts.
While Cobra Kai may be one of Netflix's biggest hits, some of the Karate Kid source material is leaving the site. While the original Karate Kid film will remain on Netflix Canada, The Karate Kid Part II, The Karate Kid Part III and The Next Karate Kid will be removed on April 1.
For children's programming (that we also love as adults), Despicable Me, Despicable Me 2 and Minions movies are all being removed from Netflix Canada on April 15.
