Lake Louise RCMP were called to a multi-vehicle collision involving five semi trailers eastbound on Highway 1, north of the 93 interchange, on Tuesday morning.

Officers advised motorists to avoid the area as traffic was unable to pass through, according to a news release sent by Alberta RCMP early Tuesday morning.

Just after 10:30 a.m., an updated news release noted that officers were still on scene as crews towed vehicles. Traffic was able to pass through one open eastbound lane, but officers advised motorists take caution while travelling through the area.

An update on X, formerly known as Twitter, from Alberta 511 at around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday said the multi-vehicle collision had been cleared.

CBC News has contacted the RCMP for more details.
