Murdaugh Murders: Netflix Announces Surprise Season 2 Just Weeks Before Premiere
Netflix on Thursday announced a surprise second season of Murdaugh Murders: A Southern Scandal.
Originally billed as a limited series, Season 1 of the true-crime hit covered covered the well-to-do Murdaughs and the events surrounding the trial of family patriarch Alex Murdaugh, beginning with the brutal murder of his wife, Maggie, and their son, Alex.

Following Season 1’s release in February, Murdaugh was found guilty of both murders.
What’s New on Netflix in September
Season 2, which premieres Wednesday, Sept. 20, will “feature first-hand accounts from those who were there the days leading up to and following the murders, giving more insight than ever into that deadly night.” That includes former family housekeeper Blanca Turrubiate-Simpson, Libby Murdaugh caregiver Mushelle “Shelly” Smith, Curtis Edward Smith (aka Cousin Eddie) and trial juror Gwen Generette.
Paul’s ex-girlfriend Morgan Doughty, friend Anthony Cook and Wall Street Journal reporter Valerie Bauerlein also return.
