A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a shooting outside a gym in Lancashire.

Lenny Scott, 33, was found with serious gunshot wounds outside the fitness centre in Peel Road, Skelmersdale, on the evening of Thursday 8 February.

Paramedics were rushed to the scene but Mr Scott, from Prescot, died later in hospital.

On Sunday morning Lancashire and Merseyside Police carried out a joint raid of a property in Kensington, Liverpool, and arrested a 25-year-old man.

He is being held in custody on suspicion of murder.

Mr Scott's family have been told about the arrest and are being supported by specialist officers.

Detectives say the suspect fled the scene on a bike, thought to be an e-bike or scrambler bike, and is thought to have been wearing black clothes and an orange high-vis jacket.

They are appealing to anyone who knows of someone matching that description who may have been in the area at the time, or who has seen any abandoned bikes nearby, to get in touch.
