Professional basketball player Justise Winslow wore an interesting t-shirt while giving a post-game interview in Miami, Florida – it was a reference only Singaporean basketball fans would understand.

Winslow, who plays for the Miami Heat in the National Basketball Association, wore a Singapore Slingers t-shirt while speaking to American reporters following the Miami Heat’s win over the Atlanta Hawks on 23 October.

Winslow made a trip to Singapore in August this year to hold a basketball training camp for youths as part of the Jr. NBA programme and spoke to Yahoo News Singapore about the NBA off-season.

The Singapore Slingers highlighted the shout-out by posting the interview video of Winslow on its Facebook page.

The Singapore Slingers are a team which plays in the ASEAN Basketball League (ABL). The Slingers who made the ABL finals twice, will be participating in the eighth season of the ABL this year.

Former NBA players who played in the ABL include former New Jersey Nets player Josh Boone, who was part of last year’s championship-winning Hong Kong Eastern Sports Club, and former Nets player Hassan Adams who played for the Slingers in 2014.

Ivan Johnson, who last played in the NBA in 2014 for the Dallas Mavericks, has also signed to play for Alab Pilipinas for the upcoming season.
