Which NC college has the most beautiful campus in the US? Plus, others on the list

North Carolina is home to several colleges and universities well boasted for their academics, athletics, and more. According to a new survey, some also have the most beautiful college campuses in the U.S.

College Rover, an online college guide, released a recent study on the 50 most beautiful college campuses across the country. Rankings were based on Yelp and TripAdvisor reviews from the top colleges in each state with the word “beautiful” then compared to the total number of campus reviews.

Multiple North Carolina colleges made the list, including Davidson College, which was ranked no. 1.

“North Carolina’s Davidson College claimed the coveted top spot as the most beautiful college campus in the U.S., with 75% of its online reviews mentioning the word ‘beautiful.’ Davidson boasts a blend of striking architectural designs and stunning natural surroundings,” the report says.

Established in 1837, Davidson is a liberal arts college located in the town of Davidson about 20 miles outside of Charlotte.

“Brick walkways and towering trees line our campus, while the Lake Campus, located on the largest man-made lake in North Carolina, offers recreational activities for the entire college community,” the school website says.

The 665 acre main campus has many performing arts venues, athletic facilities, a coffeehouse and pub, a lounge for LGBTQIA+ students and allies and more. About 7 miles away is the Lake Campus on Lake Norman with a waterfront beach and swim area, sand volleyball courts, picnic areas and open green spaces for students, faculty, and staff.

NC colleges with the most beautiful campuses

Aside from Davidson, Elon University ranked 9th, Duke University ranked 27th and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is no. 41 on the list.
