NDP wins Calgary-Glenmore after Linda Johnson concedes defeat

Linda Johnson has conceded defeat in Calgary-Glenmore, almost one month after the provincial election which swept the NDP to power in Alberta.

"I've done the job the best way I knew how. I answered every phone call, I answered every letter and email that I got to the office, and the results show that the residents of Calgary-Glenmore had a choice to make and they had a hard time," said Johnson, who ran for the PCs.

"It wasn't an overwhelming choice, so I take pride in my campaign and my volunteers and my supporters."

Johnson's announcement comes one day after a judicial recount, supervised by an Alberta Court of Queen's Bench justice, confirmed Anam Kazim of the NDP won the riding by six votes.

Kazim will be the 53rd NDP MLA in Alberta once she's sworn in.
