Love Is Blind's Jessica says she doesn't even remember giving her dog wine
Love Is Blind star Jessica has responded to backlash after giving her dog wine on the show
The moment she let her Golden Retriever drink from her wine glass shocked fans
She says she doesn't remember doing it and that she's "had a lot of negativity and hatred" since the show was aired
Dating shows all tend to follow the same kind of format these days. But occasionally, we get treated to a premise so ridiculous we can't help but proclaim it to be a work of entertainment genius. Enter Love Is Blind, Netflix's latest attempt to tap into our love of First Dates and Take Me Out. And the premise is incredibly simple (if not totally batshit): singles choose a person to marry without ever having seen them.
Since it launched last week on Netflix, fans have been taking to the Internet to point out how ludicrous but ultimately, watchable Love Is Blind is. Within the first few episodes, there are multiple declarations of love from couples who have never laid eyes on each other.
And in the past week, fans have been going wild on Twitter over one very bizarre moment - where Jessica let her Golden Retriever drink red wine out of her glass. It's a blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment, but worth watching again because honestly, WTF?!
She has now responded to the backlash in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. “I love my dog more than anything and that was not something I would ever recommend anyone to do. I think I was just really uncomfortable. I don’t even remember doing it. I don’t know why I did that but it was definitely unnecessary for sure.”

Jessica also spoke about the backlash on social media and how it's affected her. “It was the first time I had really ever experienced anything like that," she said. "Initially, I had a lot of negativity and hatred. But honestly it’s gotten a bit better as of late… I can separate it a little bit. It’s okay. I totally understand why there are some of those comments out there.”
And while it is a silly and fun show, there's also some really interesting topics explored throughout. One male contestant describes himself as fluid, and has had partners of all genders in the past. His motivation for coming on the show is that he feels ready to get married and have children with a female partner. But he sees his sexuality and relationship history as a secret that he must find the right time to reveal to his new fiancé.
As well as being incredibly emotional, it's a rare sight to see male bisexuality, pansexuality or queerness explored in a mainstream TV show. He talks of previous partners who didn't accept him because of his fluidity, and reveals a very real stigma still faced by bisexual men today.
Another contestant speaks openly about abortion, and the impact it had on her in a previous relationship. Others speak of their issues with self-sabotage or age gap relationships. There's a love triangle, some proper dating villains, and some incredibly innocent lovely singles too.
And Twitter is already obsessed. Semi spoilers ahead...
Guys, "Love is Blind" is soooo good. It's gonna be your new Netflix obsesh. Like "Bach" meets "Married at First Sight." Just get through the part where they're in the pods and then it's like oooomg

Whether the conclusion is that love really is 'blind' or not, the show is undoubtedly one hell of a ride.
