After the Labour Party's resounding win in the general election, Sir Keir Starmer outlined some of his key priorities. In response, Yahoo readers have voiced their opinions on what they believe should top the agenda.

During a whirlwind first week as PM, which included assembling his Cabinet and attending the Nato leaders' summit in Washington, DC, Starmer has spoken about his ambitious agenda to get the country back on track.

In his inaugural address at Downing Street, he emphasised the NHS, border security, public safety, energy costs, infrastructure, housing, and education as key areas for attention.

However, he acknowledged achieving his aims would not be easy following the Tory's 14-year rule, stating, "Changing a country is not like flicking a switch."

According to Yahoo readers, Immigration and Asylum should be at the top of Starmer's agenda, with half of the respondents in our poll selecting this issue.

The King is scheduled to preside over the State Opening of Parliament on Wednesday, signalling the official commencement of the new parliamentary session at the Palace of Westminster.

The government’s legislative program for the upcoming session will be outlined in the King’s Speech and the establishment of Great British Energy and planning reform are expected to take centre stage.
