No. 1 South Carolina WBB announces second sellout of season

The Gamecocks have officially sold out two women’s basketball games for the third season in program history.

USC announced Tuesday that its athletics ticket office had declared the upcoming home game this Sunday versus Vanderbilt a sellout. It’s the second sellout this season, joining the Feb. 11 home game versus UConn.

No. 1 South Carolina (17-0, 5-0 SEC) will face off with Vanderbilt Sunday at 3 p.m. on SEC Network as part of the conference’s We Back Pat initiative in honor of legendary Tennessee coach Pat Summitt.

According to a school release, “University faculty/staff will still be able to use their Carolina Card to gain admission on a first-come, first-served basis, and a limited number of student tickets are still available to be claimed.”

The game marks the 11th sellout of the 18,000-seat Colonial Life Arena in program history, as USC announced the Gamecocks home game versus the No. 8 UConn Huskies had sold out in December.

Before returning home to a packed-out arena, coach Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks will battle No. 9 LSU in a huge AP Top 10 matchup on Thursday in Baton Rouge (8 p.m., ESPN).
