Stuck without a car in Hollywood or Fort Lauderdale? You have options at 5 train stations
You can’t catch Brightline or Metrorail trains in Hollywood. But you have options for navigating the rails in one of Broward’s largest cities.
In Fort Lauderdale, just to the north, Brightline has a presence along with Tri-Rail.
Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale also have city-run shuttles and are served by Broward County buses, with routes that connect to the rail stations.
Here’s what to know about staying on track as you travel to and from Hollywood and Fort Lauderdale:
Hollywood
TRI-RAIL
The regional commuter train, which runs along the I-95 corridor in Broward County, travels 73 miles through Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties. Service started in 1989. Tri-Rail stops at two Hollywood stations.
▪ Hollywood Station: The historic station at 3001 Hollywood Blvd. is nestled between Interstate 95 and a Target shopping center. The station has limited parking, which is free, but some spaces are designated for Amtrak passengers. Broward Transit Route 7 serves the station as do city shuttles including Hallandale Beach. The station also is served by the new Sun Shuttle West, which stops at 18 locations west of I-95 between Johnson and Washington streets to Florida’s Turnpike. Stops include the Hollywood Tri-Rail station, Target on Hollywood Boulevard, Miramar Bakery on State Road 7 and the Hillcrest neighborhood.

▪ Sheridan Station: The station at 2900 Sheridan St., just to the west of the I-95 ramps, offers plentiful parking and is served by Broward Transit Route 12.

AMTRAK
Amtrak trains to New York stop in Hollywood.
▪ Station: The Amtrak station in Hollywood is at 3101 Hollywood Blvd., where Tri-Rail also stops. Several parking spaces are designated for Amtrak passengers. The station is staffed with Amtrak agents for ticketing and other services.
Fort Lauderdale
TRI-RAIL
▪ Fort Lauderdale Station: The Trai-Rail station is at 200 SW 21st Ter., south of Broward Boulevard, and is shared with Amtrak trains. There are lots of transit options here to get to or leave the station, including stops for Broward County bus routes 9, 22, 81, and LauderGo! Fort Lauderdale city shuttle routes.
▪ Fort Lauderdale Airport Station: This station, technically in Dania Beach, is a transit hub. It’s at 500 Gulf Stream Way, just to the south of Griffin Road, and ringing a compound that includes a park, hotel, seafood restaurant and outdoor store. Covered parking is free. Transit connections at the station include a free shuttle to and from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, along with Broward bus routes 4, 6, 15, 16. Also a stop for 595 Express bus to Brickell in Miami and a shuttle to the college campus center in Davie that includes Broward College, Florida Atlantic University and Nova Southeastern University.
BRIGHTLINE
Brightline runs from downtown Miami with stops in Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton and West Palm Beach.
Station:The Fort Lauderdale Brightline station is at 101 NW Second Ave., just off Broward Boulevard and west of Federal Highway. The station has parking. For those without a car, requests for an Uber ride from a Brightline station can be made through the train service’s app or website. “Premium” Brightline passengers get rides within a five-mile radius. Brightline+ shuttles connect passengers to Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport.
AMTRAK
▪ Station: Just like in Hollywood, Amtrak shares a station in Fort Lauderdale with Tri-Rail. The address is 200 SW 21st Ter. The station is staffed with Amtrak representatives for ticketing and services.
