No discoveries made as search for human remains at rural property west of Calgary continues
No discoveries have yet been made at a rural property near Bragg Creek, Alta., about 30 kilometres west of Calgary, that police say is connected to a historic missing persons case.
Calgary police said they began searching the area located along Highway 762 south of the Alberta hamlet "a few days ago" after receiving a tip that there may be human remains related to a decades-old case in that area.
"This is a situation where we have information that's come to us that we believe is reliable," said Staff Sgt. Sean Gregson with the Calgary Police Service.
"We know that there's families out there that are seeking answers and we have a duty to bring closure to the families."
Gregson confirmed that there is one missing person related to the case.
Calgary police have used several resources including their K9 unit and ground penetrating radar services while searching the property.
They say they have also been working with the RCMP Major Crimes Unit due to the location of the search.
Police said they do not belive that the current property owner nor any previous owners are connected to the missing persons case.
The search is expected to be complete in the next two days, Gregson said, but that could change if something is found.
