Haliey Welch's viral moment may be controversial, but it did not cost the 21-year-old her job.

In an interview with Brianna LaPaglia on the Plan Bri Uncut podcast on July 1, Welch clarified that she is not a school teacher nor was she fired from her job after her man-on-the-street interview with TikTok creators Tim and Dee TV from June 11 went viral.

DeArius Marlow was interviewing people on Nashville's iconic Broadway Street and spent time chatting with Welch and her friend. Marlow asked Welch, "What's one move in bed that makes a man go crazy every time?" In her explicit response, Welch said, "Oh you gotta give him that 'hawk tuah.' "

In the wake of the clip's wide-reaching spread, rumors flew on social media that Welch had been let go from a teaching job.

“I worked in a [bed] spring factory,” Welch clarified during her podcast appearance. "I'm not even old enough to be a teacher."

Welch said that she "quit her job" and was not fired over her interview.

Welch also told LaPaglia that the other rumors about her dad being a minister were untrue. "My father is so far from a preacher it’s crazy,” she said.

Welch has now sold over $65,000 of “Hawk Tuah” merch, Rolling Stone. This has led to other opportunities, like performing with Zach Bryan on the stage at Nashville's Nissan Stadium on June 29.

Bryan, 28, had Welch join him during his encore performance of “Revival,” where she sang and included her “hawk tuah” quip.

Later in the episode, Welch told LaPaglia that she plans to move to Los Angeles — with hopes to move away from her sudden tagline.

“I don’t see that being my thing,” she said. “ I was being a bit of a smart a-- too, 'cause like you’re gonna come up to me with a microphone and ask me something like that? . . . I [didn’t] mean nothing by it [at the time]."

On July 2, The Penthouse announced that Welch had signed with the management firm, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed. "The world’s gone crazy for Haliey! I’m glad our team can help guide this rocketship. All the podcasters are right, spend five minutes with her and you’ll see why she is America’s sweetheart," Jamie Forster, the firm's founder, told THR. Forster did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for comment.

It seems to all be part of Welch's big plans. As she teased to LaPaglia: "There’s more to come, don’t worry."
