An Ohio woman and her teenage daughter have been indicted in connection with the death of an infant in Hilliard, Ohio, last month, court records and news reports show.

Basma Abdul Karim Alkelezli, 36, and Hanan Ahmad Al Jabouli, 19, are facing charges after the infant was discovered in a car on Sept. 20, according to a Facebook post from the Hilliard Division of Police.

Court records show that Alkelezli of Hillard, Ohio, and Al Jabouli of Dublin, Ohio are facing several charges each, including murder, endangerment of a child and strangulation.

Fire department medics responded to a medical emergency at the home that morning and found an infant inside a vehicle that was on the property, says the Facebook post. Authorities determined that the child had been born recently. After being taken to the hospital, the infant was pronounced dead.

In a 911 call, Al Jabouli said her mother was “not waking up”, The Columbus Dispatch reports.

According to a police report cited by NBC4i, medics were called to the home because Alkelezli was bleeding and they determined it was from childbirth. However, they did not see any baby, which prompted them to call the police.

Court documents also allege Al Jabouli was following her mother’s orders in the incident, according to the outlet. Alkelezli allegedly directed Al Jabouli to discard a trash bag where she’d put her newborn son, the documents allege, according to the outlet. The teenager allegedly did so by putting the bag in a five-gallon bucket, which was found by authorities in the trunk of a car in their backyard. It wasn’t immediately clear who the car belonged to.

Alkelezli is facing a total of eight charges including murder, child endangerment, suffocation, and abuse of a corpse, according to Franklin County court records. Al Jabouli is facing similar charges, as well as obstruction of justice.

It's not clear if either suspect has entered pleas to the charges or retained an attorney.

The two were arrested on Friday, according to the Franklin County Sheriff's records, and are being held in jail in a Franklin County jail without bond. No court date was provided in the sheriff's records, but The Columbus Dispatch reports Al Jabouli is set to appear in court next month.
