Oil Kings to raise Memorial Cup banner at home opener Saturday

After winning the Western Hockey League championship and claiming the Memorial Cup for the first time since 1966, the Edmonton Oil Kings are back.

The Oil Kings will face off against the Kootenay Ice in their season opening game at Rexall Place on Saturday night, where they will raise the Memorial Cup banner and WHL championship flag to the rafters.

Every fan in attendance on Saturday will receive a replica mini Memorial Cup banner.

The Oil Kings squad will be missing a few players currently away at their respective NHL training camps, including forward Curtis Lazar with the Ottawa Senators.

The Oil Kings are expecting a large crowd and recommend arriving early. The puck drops at 7 p.m. MT.
