Okla. Couple Appeared in Interview Nearly 2 Years Before Husband Murdered Wife, 3 Sons, Then Turned Gun on Self

Less than two years before her husband fatally shot her and three of their sons before turning the gun on himself, 39-year-old Lindsay Candy appeared alongside 42-year-old Jonathon Candy in an interview for the TV series Discover Oklahoma.

In the episode, which aired on Nov. 26, 2022, the couple were described as regular customers of a bakery and deli in Yukon, Okla., where the show was highlighting the establishment.

“I come here twice a week in the morning just for their breakfast burritos, which are by far anything better than you can get around here,” Jonathan says in the video with Lindsay nodding in agreement. “I love it ‘cause I can eat a big burrito, and then I don’t have to eat until night time.”

“I love carrot cake. I don’t eat a lot of sweets, even with my last name.” Jonathan jokes while Lindsay laughs. “But I love the carrot cake.”

Lindsay adds, “I like the cannoli. The cannoli are good.”

On April 22, Lindsay, along with her three sons, Dylan Candy, 18, Ethan Candy, 14, and Lucas Candy, 12, were fatally shot by Jonathon, who then turned the gun on himself, Oklahoma City police announced.

The couple’s 10-year-old son was the sole survivor who was unharmed and called 911 that morning after waking up to find their bodies, according to police. He’s currently in the care of a relative, police said.

According to police, the shooting occurred after Jonathon "became involved in an altercation” with his wife and shot her multiple times. Police added that he then “systematically” went through the home, shooting and killing three of their four children.

Police are still investigating a motive for the murders, but believe Jonathon “hunted” down his family.

“Make no mistake. What happened in that residence was nothing short of a massacre,"  Oklahoma City Police Sgt. Gary Knight said at an April 23 press conference, according to Fox News. “The children were hunted down and killed.”

Police also said this week that they never received calls to the family’s home prior to the murders and that they had no history of domestic abuse reports.
